Signs of hope in UK housing market reported by Persimmon

Persimmon, Britain’s biggest housebuilder by market value and No.3 by homes built, said it saw signs of hope for Britain’s housing market, with fewer cancellations and more visitors.

After worrying times throughout 2007 it seems the market has since steadied, with data showing on Monday that mortgage approvals in January picked up from near record lows and underlying net mortgage lending rose by 6.1 percent.
