Fearless Age Concern shop manager, Addie Brady, has single-handedly raised over £500 for Age Concern Wirral after being locked inside a container at Smart Storage’s Wirral branch for more than nine hours with no contact with the outside world.
Addie, who manages Age Concern’s Wirral shop, began her ordeal at 8 o’clock in the morning, and was not released until closing time. During her lengthy confinement she was unable to talk to communicate with anyone, something which naturally chatty Addie found incredibly difficult!
Jon Wyles, Managing Director of Smart Storage, commented: “We are all really impressed with Addie’s fundraising challenge and Smart Storage was more than happy to help out with the event by providing a container to serve as her ‘prison’ for such a worthy cause.”
The money raised by Addie will go towards Age Concern Wirral’s £300,000 Early Onset Dementia Wing which is being built at Devonshire Resource Centre Birkenhead to support sufferers of early onset dementia and their families.
Lynne Hamilton, Fundraising & Marketing Manager at Age Concern Wirral, commented: “Addie has raised a tremendous sum of money which will go towards helping the increasing number of people affected by early onset dementia. The condition is set to become more of a problem over the coming years and Age Concern’s specialist unit will provide invaluable help and support for people who have fallen victim to dementia, and for those who will be affected by it in the future.”
Smart Storage was launched in 2004 by Managing Director, Jon Wyles and Development Director, John Harrington. The company has five storage facilities across the North West, in Warrington, Wirral, Liverpool, Widnes and Preston, offering domestic, business and student storage solutions.
