New Smart Storage Facility Opened in Halton

Jan. 9th 2008

Halton Borough Council has welcomed a new £1.3m storage facility in Widnes, transforming a former paper bag factory and bringing jobs and investment into the town.

Smart Storage decided on Halton for its new venue, after the council convinced the firm it was an up-and-coming area, with lots of opportunities. Smart Storage is booming on the back of people’s desires to store everything from legal documents to their household possessions.

Managing Director of Smart Storage Jon Wyles said: “Halton Borough Council convinced both my financial backers and myself that Widnes was an ideal location given the significant level of regeneration that has taken place across the borough in the last few years. “This includes the ongoing commitment with the Mersey Gateway, the town centre and Widnes Waterfront.”

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Regeneration, Councillor Rob Polhill, echoed his comments

He said: “The fact the firm has chosen Widnes for its latest premises shows the confidence industry has in Halton. “There has been tremendous development in Halton over the past decade. Developers know that there is stability here and it’s beginning to pay dividends, which is tremendous news for the whole area.” Smart Storage Widnes provides tailor made storage solutions for both domestic and commercial customers. The store is located on Hutchinson Street, between Cromwell Street and Nelson Street.

Halton is fast becoming a desirable area, and has been counted among the top 10 in a recent survey looking at the number of new homes constructed in the North West. The high-profile location, which will initially offer 10,000 sq ft and eventually 40,000 sq ft of storage space, overlooks the A568 filter road onto the bridge.
