We believe that giving back matters. We do our best to support the communities where our stores are located, be it by donating our time, our money or our space, and we always have something going on. If you’re thinking of taking self-storage with Smart Storage, we’d welcome your support for our charity initiatives.

Children’s Adventure Farm Trust – ‘It’s A Knockout’ Event

On August 12th, staff members from many of our stores (including our CEO Chris), went on an adventure as part of our community focus. We did an ‘It’s A Knockout’ event that took place for CAFT, the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, a local charity that provides residential respite care for underprivileged and disabled children. We competed against 10 other teams and had lots of fun – and plenty of tumbles!

We completed wacky and hilarious challenges in an It’s-A-Knockout-inspired, inflatable assault course and spent the whole time running, bouncing, jumping and, of course, being covered in foam from head to toe, always with a smile on our faces!

By sponsoring this fantastic charity, we were able to raise more than £500 for a cause we strongly believe in; we couldn’t have been happier with the great turnout.

Children’s Heart Association

Our Liverpool store is supporting the Children’s Heart Association. This fabulous organisation supports local children’s cardiac units and families with children who have heart problems and has several support groups across the North West and in North Wales. The larger groups are located around Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

We love the work this organisation does and wanted to contribute to such a wonderful cause by supplying discounted and free storage units at our Liverpool store throughout the year. This way, the team at the charity can easily store donated items prior to taking them to the location of their current pop-up shop. Our unit enables the charity to keep their donations safe and secure in between being taken to shops ready for sale.

The Wirral Ark

Working with homeless men and women, The Wirral Ark are a registered charity that provides accommodation, support and guidance for those who need it the most. From isolated people with mental health or drug problems to current and ex-offenders, this charity works with everyone who needs a helping hand right across the Wirral area.

At Smart Storage, we firmly believe in such important issues and are happy to help in any way we can. After realising how serious these problems were in Wirral, we decided to offer a unit to The Wirral Ark. The organisation moved in late 2015 and has been utilising the space ever since. We also support them by donating unwanted goods that are left in our units and helped them to develop their social presence in October 2018.

If you are also interested in helping this charity, you can become a volunteer or donate money, as they rely on charitable donations to help develop facilities for the homeless.

MacMillan Cancer Support (Widnes)

MacMillan Cancer Support do a lot for people who have been diagnosed with cancer across the UK, as well as helping their families. This charity provides many resources, such as much-needed information about several types of cancer and practical advice and support on what to expect in regard to treatment.

At Smart Storage, we believe this is an extremely important organisation that does a lot of good for many people, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help.

We host Coffee Mornings every year in pretty much all of our locations and our store in Widnes helps this fantastic charity by offering a 100sq ft unit for free (with free ins as well) for all of their needs. We also assist with collecting donations and attend rugby games with their mascot Muggsy, the green bear. We’re extremely excited to participate in these events and contribute to such a worthy cause that changes lives every day.

St Rocco’s Hospice

St Rocco’s Hospice provide specialised care and support to those coping with a life-limiting illness. This organisation is determined to offer quality care and promote social, psychological and spiritual well-being at the same time, helping both patients and families. They do fantastic work across Warrington, so we were more than happy to help them at our Warrington store. Not only do we offer storage at a discounted rate, but we’re also storing kitchen equipment for their Christmas week meal event for the homeless of the area.

With Christmas on the way, what better time for everyone to give back to the community and help those in need? At Smart Storage, it’s important to us that we play our part in actively supporting our communities. We’re always happy to find new organisations to support or sponsor and are thrilled to continue offering our resources to such worthy causes at each of our stores.
