The Smart Storage 13th Annual Toy Appeal is well under way after being launched on the 27th October, and we are pleased to report on the success we’ve had so far.

The toy appeal is about ensuring that there are plenty of presents under the tree for underprivileged and vulnerable children to help make Christmas special for them. This year we have had more support than ever, with more local businesses and organisations getting behind the appeal in a variety of ways. Both Warrington Town FC and Altrincham FC have encouraged their fans to donate toys, promoting our appeal ahead of their family games.

Many of our partners have promoted the appeal across their social media platforms, posted about it on their websites, displayed posters in their officers, shops and grounds and have posted information about the appeal to their customer base.

The donations have come thick and fast and so far; we have already managed to fill a 150 square foot unit – that’s roughly enough space to store the entire contents of a typical three-bedroom house!

We would like to say a big thank you to Gladstone Brookes who, of Thursday 6th December, donated £1,000 to our appeal (again), allowing staff the thrill of an amazing trolley dash at Smyths Toys Superstore. The staff managed to fill four huge trolleys full of a great range of toys, from toddlers to teens, all of which they donated to our appeal. It was a fantastic afternoon full of festive cheer and goodwill. The generosity of Gladstone Brookes is greatly appreciated, and we know that all those donated toys will be going to a great home.

If you would still like to get involved, keep an eye out for our removal partners: JMC Removals and SureMove. Their van fleet are collecting toys from the various donation points and bringing them first to our storage centres, then out to the charities being supported.

You can drop off new and unwrapped toys at our stores in Altrincham, Warrington or Widnes. You can also find drop-off points with our partners. In Warrington, Warrington Town FC, Gulliver’s Hotel and the Warrington Wolves Foundation will accept donations. And if you can’t make it to our store in Altrincham, you can leave your donations at the Best Western Cresta Hotel, Altrincham FC or Gascoigne Halman. In Widnes, you can drop off your toys at Widnes Vikings Market Stall or at their shop inside Tesco.

There is still time to join in our appeal; we’re accepting gifts right up until Christmas Eve. We really can’t do this without you.

All of the collected toy donations will be distributed through local charities across the area, where they are working with children and families in need. Our charity partners include the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust, The Lalley Toy Appeal, Warrington Borough Council, The Warrington Disability Partnership and Jess’s Shoebox Appeal.

We would like to issue a huge thank you to all of our supporters; without your generosity, none of this would have been possible. Thanks to you, Christmas will be that little bit more special for the children who need it the most.
