As lockdown restrictions ease, you will be making plans to let you get back to work and make your offices or premises compliant with the latest guidelines. Many businesses can benefit from flexible business storage. Surplus office furniture, customer tables, chairs and the like might be surplus now whilst social distancing measures exist, but will all be needed once more as guidelines change.
So, if this is a challenge you are facing, consider how self-storage can support you right now.
But pandemic or not, there are several things you should always do before placing your items into self-storage. This ‘to do’ list will help you to get organised and maximise your storage space.
And, if lockdown restrictions become more stringent once again – remember our stores are fully automated. We can offer access 7 days and support our customers remotely. We have continued to enable essential access and support our customers throughout the lockdown.
Research the Perfect Storage Facility
Before making a decision, do your research. This means taking location into account; the storage facility of your choice needs to be near your place of business if you want to save time and money. By offering self-storage in Liverpool, self-storage in Preston, self-storage on the Wirral, self-storage in Warrington, self-storage in Widnes and self-storage in Altrincham, we ensure that we’re always close by, no matter where you are in the North West.
Additionally, security can be a major concern for customers and it’s a concern we take seriously. We invest in state-of-the-art systems and maintenance to ensure we deliver peace of mind. Smart Storage operates a 24-hour CCTV security system in all stores, and each store has access entry controls, intruder alarm systems and individually alarmed units too. Our loading and unloading areas are also secure.
Price is another consideration. Very cheap self-storage facilities are unlikely to offer you all the amenities and features you need – as well as effective security. But you do not want to end up paying an exorbitant amount for storage either. The answer is to find a facility that provides you with all the features you require at competitive prices. Get a quote today to find the right unit for you.
Of course, the size of your unit is equally important. Too small and you do not have the space to add your belongings; too big and you’re wasting money. With our storage space calculator, you can easily figure out the right dimensions for your needs. And our experienced team can help you too – just give them a call.
How long you store your items for also affects the price. Smart Storage offers many promotions, including a 50% off introductory offer and a great partnership with Enterprise sees you benefit from a free 24hr standard transit van hire – which makes moving in easy.
Depending on the duration of your stay, you may be able to benefit from some further offers too, so keep that in mind when you make your decision.
Get Organised Ahead of Time
As a business owner, it’s important that you’re organised at all times, and this includes doing your prep before placing items in storage. Sort your equipment and furniture and identify what you need to keep in the office and on site and what you’ll need to clear to ensure social distancing guidelines can be met by staff and customers alike. By doing this, you can also determine how much bubble wrap, boxes and other packaging materials you might need in order to protect and store your items.
Think about how much time you need to keep your items in storage as well. Smart Storage offers many promos to our clients, such as 50% off as an introductory offer, which means you can get up to 50% off the first 8 weeks you’re with us. Depending on the duration of your stay, you may be able to benefit from fantastic offers, so keep that in mind when you make your decision.
Pack Everything Correctly
During the packing stage, you should label and/or number every box so you can find everything again without a hitch. Stumbling through boxes and unpacking everything to find one item is not ideal and, as a business owner, you don’t have that kind of time to spare either.
Our boxes and packaging shop has everything you could possibly need to move items into storage, such as tape, furniture covers, specialised boxes, padlocks and more.
When packing your items, select the right type of box, since things like TVs, computer monitors and furniture are better stored in specialised boxes where they can be safe and clean. Don’t overload the boxes either; if you can’t close them properly, they won’t be stable when you try to stack them in your unit Put heavier items at the bottom to help stabilise them.
Tape the boxes shut and draw an arrow on them to mark the direction that they should be stored. Knowing the right stacking direction will help protect more fragile items. Any item that can be dismantled, like a desk, should be taken apart to maximise the space inside your unit.
Streamline Access to Your Unit
You want to be able to quickly access your belongings, especially if you’re in a rush. Planning and executing a good layout is important.
Create aisles inside the unit so you don’t have to keep removing items to reach the ones at the back, for example. Shelves will keep smaller items organised and free up floor space. Make sure that anything you use regularly is within easy reach too.
With our drive-up units, you can simply approach the unit, place or remove items and drive away. Quick and efficient, with no need to speak to anyone.
