At Smart Storage, we love to get involved with as many local events and North West charities as we possibly can. We believe that it’s nice to be nice, and have chosen our range of local and national charities to support based on the big difference these sometimes-small organisations can make.
From a junior football team to charities as well-known as Macmillan Cancer Support, we like to have our fingers in every pie. After all, if we have the tools and services to help, then, of course, we will utilise them.
We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone!
Bromborough & Wirral
Wirral Churches Ark
The Wirral Ark is a registered charity that exists to provide accommodation, support and guidance for the homeless. These include isolated individuals with mental health or drug issues, current and ex-offenders, previously rough sleepers and generally anyone who needs a helping hand.
Their aim is to help them secure permanent long-term accommodation.
They truly opened our eyes here at Smart Storage to the problems on the Wirral, so we offered to supply a unit to them. They moved in, in late 2015 and have been utilising the unit ever since.
Radio City Toy Appeal
When Christmas time comes around, Smart Storage gets in the festive spirit and donates a storage unit in Wirral for the collection of toys.
This unit functions as a collection point and a sorting station where generous volunteers, including a few celebs from the city, help get everything in place alongside other fabulous companies to help spread a smile across thousands of children’s faces during Christmas.
Of course, we will be helping again at the end of this year, so keep an eye on us!
Sea Cadets provide support and training through their meetings around the country for young people. These young’ uns are helped by the sea cadets by preparing them for life. This is done through offering experiences and life skills which will lead to a successful and productive future. Many of their exciting work involves adventure training, which means they need storage space! We have been providing a unit to these wonderful people for many years now and couldn’t be happier about it!
Anselmians RUFC & Saints Academy
Here at Smart Storage, we support this Rugby Union club through funding. We sponsor their club with adverts in programmes, pitch and ground signage, as well as a web listing.
This club is a great hub within the community and consists of three senior teams over South Lancashire and Cheshire, as well as an energetic minis and junior section. It gets everyone of all ages involved, from under 7’s up to senior colts. Smart Storage are proud to be involved with them!
Wirral Dog Rescue
This small dog rescue centre relies on the help of volunteers and donations. This also means volunteers popping in to help (and cuddle) some dogs in need. With the help of others and Smart Storage we hope they can continue to rescue all the pups in need.
Heswall Juniors FC
Smart Storage are also proud sponsors of Heswall Juniors FC. Our logo is on the young players’ kits, and we are certainly proud to see them playing their best while sporting our brand! These kids are destined for remarkable things.
MacMillan Cancer Support
This wonderful charity has a free unit at Smart Storage, which they use to store all of their fundraising equipment. Everything from T-shirts to banners and gazebos, mascot costumes and collection boxes can be found in their storage unit.
Kelly, from our Widnes unit, has been personally helping them to raise funds and will be collecting for them at M&S in Widnes. We love helping this amazing charity and plan to do much more going forward.
Women’s Institute Widnes
This fantastic charity helps women from all over the country in difficult situations. They store fundraising equipment in their Smart Storage unit, as well as promotional merchandise. They do some fabulous work in the local community with cake sales, stalls, fundraising and much more.
All they pay for is their insurance on their free smart storage unit. If they ever need storage space, we are ready to lend a helping hand. Keep up the hard work, ladies!
Widnes Vikings Rugby
Smart Storage sponsor this fantastic team’s stand, and we’re also the match day sponsor! These strapping young lads don’t need much help from us, but we like to be a part of the excitement and local sports.
This organisation is a great one to work with as they also deal with further education programmes, alongside keeping the community spirit alive.
West Bank Bears ARLFC Rugby
For this rugby club, we sponsor their kits and have our banners around their fencing. We are such big fans of this club that anyone else who is into the ‘Bear Banter’ gets 10% off our storage units!
Annual Xmas Toy Appeal
Our Smart Storage units in Altrincham act as a drop-off centre over the festive period. We take part in this charitable event every year and utilise our units for the fabulous toy appeal.
Putting together the North West’s largest toy appeal isn’t an easy task but, when the community comes together at this time of year, we can conquer all!
Alongside many other wonderful businesses lending a hand, we use our storage skills for the greater good. In 2015, we managed to collect a whopping 10,000 toys!
CAFT- Childrens Adventure Farm Trust
This local charity provides residential respite care for underprivileged and disabled children. Their super fun and educational site lets the kids experience things they may otherwise not get an opportunity to. Whether it’s something as simple as eating three nutritious and delicious meals a day to some messy crafts, petting and playing with the animals, or even looking after Rudolph when he stays with them over Christmas; there is plenty to do!
During their stay, the children are all given a cuddly toy to help them settle in and have a good night sleep!
Our annual toy appeal is a big part of helping these guys, as we help to make sure all the children have toys and gifts throughout the year. Smart Storage is more than happy to help in any way we can. It’s fair to say that their stay with CAFT is memorable!
Lalley Toy Appeal- Local in Altrincham
This local toy appeal presents the annual ‘give a child a xmas’ campaign and Smart Storage are proud to be a part of it! This fabulous campaign helps around 1,500 kids annually, and it’s so great that independent volunteer, Dee Drake, has just won a community award at the Inspiring women awards 2017.
Well Green Community Centre
Smart Storage have just sponsored a fantastic writing competition at the community centre in the heart of the Trafford Council. The ‘Tell me a tale’ competition is full of creative inspiration sure to bring some memorable writing to the community.
Paul, our main man for all things charity, had the honour of meeting the Mayor of Trafford, Jonathon Coupe to discuss our involvement. We look forward to all good things to come from this.
Alzheimers Research UK
We managed to make 1,019 snakes, beating our goal by hundreds and even smashed the world record, which was set at 1,000. We are excited to continue supporting this charity and raising some more funds and awareness.
International Shoebox Appeal
This appeal is run by Jessica Doyle and her team of loyal volunteers. This wonderful campaign raises donations for shoe boxes which helps people of various ages all across the world – not just the North West.
We act as a drop off point and provide a discounted 650 sqft space! Jessica Doyle also recently helped us at the Altrincham Festival to promote her wonderful cause as well as Smart Storage!
The Tee Club is a monthly t-shirt subscription ran by the lovely BuzHub tenant Rick Chebrike. However, he isn’t an average t-shirt salesman; for every monthly subscription, Rick donates a t-shirt to the homeless.
Rick has rented an office unit at Smart Storage in Altrincham since October and we like to help him in his quest in any way possible!
Altrincham Ladies FC and FC
Smart Storage sponsor these lovely ladies’ training kits and while we have sponsored them in the past we have decided to re-sponsor them again for a second season.
As well as sponsoring the ladies team, we can’t forget about the boys too! For Altrincham FC we don’t just sponsor their home training kit, but you will also see our fabulous branding on their family stand, their match day advertisements and their programmes.
The local community is super important to us and this is just one way we show this.
Keeping in with our sports sponsorship, we also help with Sale FC too! Smart Storage help out with their community programme which involves the team going into local schools with the club.
You will also find our signage around their club as well as in the programme adverts and as a match day sponsorship. Keep your eyes peeled for us!
Children’s Heart Association
You may have heard of this fabulous organisation. Well they have several support groups across the North West of England and in North Wales. However, their larger groups are centred around Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
The fabulous Val Frew is the leader of this, and with the running of the shop, you can imagine she needs some serious space. Smart Storage supply discounted and free units in Liverpool throughout the year so that Val can set up each day without worrying!
The Liverpool branch meet on the first Thursday of every month in Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital at 7.30pm. If you ever want to lend a hand, that would be fabulous.
Seaforth Community Shop (Sefton 4 Good)
Previously known as Sefton4Good, the Seaforth Community Shop is managed by Lynne. From the huge rise in demand for recycled clothing and support for families, Lynne and her team recently had to move to bigger premises. Isn’t that fab?
In turbulent times, this wonderful team provide not only clothes, but the support necessary to pull the families through. They make over 1000 food hampers throughout the year and distribute them to families, schools, churches and food banks! They ensure everyone has enough items.
Smart Storage offer Lynne and her trusty troops the space and access for over 25 volunteers. This space allows them room to create their hampers and provides a base to distribute them. This charity is so great that the mayor also likes to get involved.
This local church-based charity gives Warrington a shoulder to lean on. Besides their year-round charity work, they also open their church doors 24/7 over the Christmas period, providing hot food, drinks and company for people less fortunate than others. WODAC stands for Warrington Open Door at Christmas!
They also provide food parcels, making sure people aren’t walking away without a snack and drink for later.
Wodac store their catering equipment and food supplies with us, which is especially helpful when they need access at short notice. Smart Storage have a notice board on our Warrington site which they use for any flyers to promote their up and coming events. Our reception is also used as a drop off point for donations too!
St Roccos and Smart Storage have a long standing and close relationship together. Believe us when we say it’s one for pulling on your heart strings.
While this fabulous charity provides care for those coping with a life-limiting illness, they also provide memory books for terminally ill children as well as organising some show stopping parties for them. At the parties, all the kids are given a gift! These gifts are stored here at our Warrington store, as they need plenty of space for all the presents! We also donate a large amount of our toys from the yearly toy appeal to St Roccos. After all, parties and toys go hand in hand!
This spectacular charity has several retail outlets in Warrington, which also helps. Their staff can be seen wondering around Smart Storage, collecting and dropping off stock from their stores. They’re constantly busy- trust us! Keep up the good work team!
Warrington Warriors Swimming Club
With this one, the clue is in the title. While they are a swimming club, they are also a registered charity. They encourage all ages to compete in local and national swimming competitions; but this all comes with the need for storage space! They store anything from certificates to swimming aids, and even some drums which they use during competitions.
The team at Smart Storage have a long-standing relationship with the Warrington Warriors. When they pop in to grab something from the unit or check on things, we can’t help but have a chin-wag and a brew! It would be rude not to.
The Warriors meet most weekends and are always on the lookout for new members of their rapidly growing club. All the help to keep them afloat is welcome. Let’s get swimming!
NCT (National Children’s Trust)
As the UK’s largest charity for parents, the NCT provides accurate information, advice, and support to parents so they can decide what’s best for their family.
They have a vision of a world in which no parent is isolated, and all parents are supported to build a stronger society.
